Crude Analyst

Job Overview

This role is responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of the global energy market, with a primary focus on crude oil and its transformation in the context of energy transition.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive and rigorous quantitative and qualitative research on the global energy market, with a focus on energy transition and transformation.

  • Proactively develop innovative research methodologies to answer key market questions and explore new data sources and analytical tools.

  • Apply advanced quantitative modeling techniques (e.g., supply/demand analysis, scenario modeling) to conduct medium- to long-term oil and gas fundamental analysis, including the impact of alternative energy sources on traditional oil and gas markets.

  • Monitor global energy markets and energy/environmental policies, delivering actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.

  • Conduct in-depth market and industry research to identify emerging trends and opportunities and propose strategic initiatives for stakeholders to consider in shaping business directions.

  • Assist in the creation of high-quality research reports, presenting original analysis, synthesizing key findings, and preparing well-organized documents and visual charts.

  • Present complex findings clearly and concisely, both in written form and through well-structured presentations (including slide packs).

  • Continuously improve and update existing analytical tools and models, leveraging a variety of quantitative data and advanced modeling software (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, SPSS) to manage and analyze large datasets and maintain relevant databases.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the oil and gas trading industry, specifically handling crude oil markets.

  • Deep understanding of the global oil markets, including the fundamental drivers of supply and demand dynamics.

  • Proven expertise in quantitative modeling, including experience working with large, incomplete, and complex datasets to derive actionable insights.

  • Strong track record of improving analytical processes, models, and systems through creative problem-solving and collaboration with diverse networks.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-pressure trading environment, maintaining accuracy and focus under tight deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Excel and VBA; knowledge of Python is a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
