LNG Analyst

Job Overview

This role is responsible for providing analytical, market intelligence, and modelling support to the LNG trading desk. The LNG Analyst will deliver timely insights on market fundamentals, pricing, and arbitrage opportunities, support optimisation of physical LNG flows, and contribute to strategic and tactical trading decisions. The role requires close collaboration with traders, strategy teams, and senior management in a fast-paced trading environment.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide daily and weekly market briefings to LNG traders on market developments, price movements, and fundamentals
  • Develop and update global LNG supply and demand outlooks on a monthly basis; present insights and scenarios to traders
  • Run and maintain LNG optimisation models to support physical cargo flow and trading decisions
  • Monitor global LNG pricing benchmarks (e.g. JKM, TTF, Henry Hub), spreads, and arbitrage opportunities; deliver directional price views and trading ideas
  • Provide real-time market intelligence and respond to trader queries throughout the trading day
  • Enhance and refine supply & demand forecasting tools and scenario models
  • Support the ongoing development of analytics infrastructure, including databases, models, and visualisation platforms
  • Collaborate with the cross-barrel strategy team and support senior management with strategic analysis and presentations when required

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant experience as an LNG trading analyst or commodity trading analyst
  • Solid understanding of the global LNG market, including supply, demand, pricing mechanisms, and trade flows
  • Strong knowledge of valuation, optimisation, pricing, and risk management in commodity trading
  • Hands-on experience with LNG supply & demand forecasting
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Python, SQL, or similar) is preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment
